2015 Is the 110th anniversary year, of the founding of the city of Gresham, OR. In honor of the city we love, we have begun a memorial bench project for the cities namesake, Walter Quintin Gresham.
The City of Gresham adopted Walter Quintin Gresham’s name when he became the Post Master General in President Chester A. Arthurs cabinet, in 1883. Walter Quintin Gresham was also Secretary of Treasury, and served on the United States Seventh Circuit Court.
Walter Quintin Gresham is a point of pride for many in the community, and there is a strong feeling that there should be more recognition of our cities namesake. The Walter Quintin Gresham Memorial bench project looks to be the first of many projects highlighting the history, and the heritage of our great city.
